Services we offer at Lifecare Family Medicine Clinic:
Lab We provide a Quest mini-draw station inside our office Monday - Friday mornings, from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. Most labs can be taken care of right in our office. For those insurances that require lab draws at LabCorp, it is only 1 block away from our office. Radiology We are able to do digital X-rays, diagnostic echocardiograms and carotid ultrasound in our office. We are also able to provide other diagnostic testing such as: electrocardiograms (EKGs), pulmonary function testing (lung function/spirometry) and pulse oximetry. ANSAR ANSAR testing is used for those patients with chronic diseases (e.g., Hypertension, Diabetes, Heart Diseases, Sleep Apnea, COPD, Pain, Fatigue, and Depression). These disease states are often associated with autonomic nervous system imbalances. Persistent autonomic imbalance leads to autonomic neuropathy. Since chronic disease is a perpetual threat to autonomic balance, two or more tests per year are typically recommended. With ANSAR we can detect parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system imbalances at a stage where they are treatable. If the imbalance is corrected, patients feel better whether it's the general well being, dizziness, blood pressure control, heart rhythm, GI, or urogenital function. Treating the underlying imbalance slows autonomic nervous system decline, improves outcomes, and can prevent unexpected sudden cardiac death. Bone Density Test A bone density test - also called densitometry or DXA scan - determines whether an individual has osteoporosis or is at risk for osteoporosis, called osteopnia. Osteoporosis is a disease that causes bones to become more fragile and more likely to break. In the past, osteoporosis could only be detected after someone broke a bone. A bone density test makes it possible to know one's risk of breaking bones before the fact.A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bone minerals are packed into a segment of bone. A bone density test is a fairly accurate predictor of the risk for having a bone fracture. Nerve Conduction Studies A nerve conduction study is a completely painless test that measures how well individual nerves can send an electrical signal from the spinal cord to the muscles. Nerve conduction studies are often used to help diagnose nerve disorders, such as carpal tunnel syndrome or Guillain-Barré syndrome.During a nerve conduction test, a health professional places a sensor directly over the muscle and the nerve to be studied and records the level at which a patient perceives the impulse.Diagnostic uses for nerve conduction studies also includes identifying abnormal sensations, such as numbness, tingling, or pain in an extremity like in periperal neuropathy (the most common use of this test). PRO 2K (Physical Therapy) Various modes of physical therapy exist which help individuals recover from acute or chronic injury. We use a method that utilizes both nerve and muscle rehabilitation - electronically. Most patients call this an "electric massage" because it truly relaxes tense muscles all the while improving injured pain fiber communication at the nerve cell level. Most insurance carriers do allow us to employ this modality in our office, which really speeds the healing process, while avoiding wasted referred time and unnessary travel to another locaton. Urodynamic Testing Our clinic offers urodynamic testing to patients with incontinence (urine leakage), the inability to completely empty the bladder, the frequent need to urinate or a constant or urgent need to urinate, an intermittent or weak urine stream, or persistent urinary tract infections. Urodynamic testing provides valuable data on bladder function for your physician to make the best recommendation for treatment. The study does not require sedating medication and is performed by a heathcare professional in our office. |
